Phase 2: Engaged Leadership

During the second phase of the Journey, students explore a balance between academics and involvement. The Case leader starts to become engaged in his or her commitment to leadership. Here, the vision becomes clearer, with a true sense of where time and energy will be focused.

Learning Outcomes

During the Engaged leadership phase students will:

Sample Engaged Leadership Opportunities

• Attend the Second Year Institute
• Join student organizations
• Plan community service experiences
• Initiate a leadership competency portfolio
• Become a Resident Assistant, Orientation Leader, and/or Supplemental Instructor
• Serve as an ELP Mentor
• Participate in Second-Year Experience initiatives
• Become a Career Peer
• Participate in the Fall and Winter Leadership Conferences
• Serve as a Committee Chair in a Greek organization
• Join the Student Leadership Journey Council
• Attend Leadership Journey Series workshops
• Nominate someone for a Dr. Dorothy Pijan Student Leadership Award
