Q&A Top 5
What is your favorite college memory?
It has to be when we invited Denise Brown (Nicole Brown Simpson's sister) to speak on our campus when I was president of the Student Activities Board. Our organization had never done a "major" event, so this was something special. Even though I wasn't in a "programming" position, I was given the opportunity to take the lead in handling all of the event preparations. It was my first of what has turned out to be many major events and always has a special place in my memory.
Why do you like working with college students?
College students are challenging, fun, exciting, and entertaining all at the same time. I get to learn from them as much as they are (hopefully) learning from me. There is something special about watching a person start as a first-year student and grow and mature into an amazing person.
What do you like most about your job?
The students that I work with and the colleagues that I have here in the office and across campus — it's the people that make my job so incredibly fun. Plus, no day is ever the same, so it's fun to see what new and exciting adventures are going to pop up from time to time.
What are you most likely to be doing on a Saturday afternoon?
Depends on the season. If it's fall, I'm probably watching college football (Go Blue!) or here on campus for one of our many traditions. In the winter, I'm trying to do stuff around the house. In the spring and summer, I'm either back here with traditions or trying to find time to work on my golf game.
If you could travel anywhere where would it be and why?
There are so many places I want to go! If I had to choose one place to go, it would probably be to Ireland and Scotland for the beautiful countryside and for the golf, plus my wife has always talked about wanting to visit there.
