The Leadership Journey Series
The Student Leadership Journey Council and Office of Student Activities & Leadership is proud to announce a new opportunity for you to expand your leadership skills. The Leadership Journey Series consists of presentations and workshops for the emerging, engaged, and experienced leader. Participation in the series is free of charge and registration is not required. Each semester a new series of lectures, presentations, and workshops will be offered to respond to the changing needs of a student leader.
Spring 2008
The Spring 2008 Leadership Journey Series will focus on the concepts of balance, time management, marketing, non-positional leadership, the transition from the first to second year, and public speaking. The schedule is as follows:
Mini-Toastmasters
Presenters:

February 8, 12:30 p.m. (1914 Lounge, Thwing Center)
A fear of public speaking ranks right up there with death and an IRS audit for many people. This interactive session will teach you some skills and techniques to improve your communication skills so that you are less afraid to talk in front of people. You will have a chance to practice what you learn during the session. You will find that your improved presentation skills will win you the respect and admiration of your peers and professors.
Generations in the Workplace

This session will explore the generations of the 20th and 21st centuries to uncover their differences and impact on the work environment. The reality is that the way in which we make decisions and respond to situations is related to our generation affiliation. Understanding the generational composition of our workplace will enable us to reduce conflict, improve performance, and more effectively utilize our talents and resources.

It’s always the right time to become active and get involved within the Case community. Are you unsure of the places you can become involved or how to proceed? Then come join us as we share tips on how you can begin to get involved on campus and personalize the experience to fit your personality and lifestyle. You will learn about the various avenues to involvement, break through the barriers that have stopped you so far, and create a plan for becoming a more active Case student.

Have you ever wondered if you can make a difference in your organization even though you don’t have a leadership position? A title does not automatically make you a leader but purposeful actions do! This session will give you the tools necessary to take control of your actions, regardless of your title, in order to make a difference and positively impact any organization.
Transitioning to Your Second Year

This session will focus on the second-year student and opportunities available at Case to help second-year students be successful. During this session students will also have an opportunity to learn more about the Second Year Institute. If you are looking for a way to continue your leadership development through your second-year and want to know the resources available at Case to help with your transition to second-year, then this workshop is perfect for you!

Many students take the summer to work or do research and/or internships; never really getting a "summer break." This session will focus on ways to rejuvenate and refocus over the summer months to be more energized and prepared for the upcoming academic year. You will learn relaxation methods and gain tools on how to be proactive during the summer months so you are not (sun) burnt-out when you return for the fall semester.
