About the Student Leadership Journey Council
Mission

The Student Leadership Journey Council advises, develops, and implements leadership programs in conjunction with the Office of Student Activities & Leadership to promote and facilitate continuous student leadership development at Case Western Reserve University.
Members will further develop skills in the following areas:
- Communication
- Interpersonal and Intrapersonal Competence
- Leadership Knowledge and Skills
- Programming
Structure
The Student Leadership Journey Council (SLJC) consists of:
Four Committees
Each committee is chaired by an elected member of the council. All council members are required to be actively involved in at least one committee.

Five Liaison Positions
Liaison positions are held by general members of SLJC. Liaisons represent the SLJC and student perspective in their respective committee.

Membership Expectations
The SLJC has two levels of membership:
- Executive Members
- General Members
Each membership level has specific expectations and responsibilities.
General Members are expected to:
- Attend the weekly council meetings
- Participate in and complete leadership training and certification
- Attend the fall and winter leadership conferences
- Attend the annual fall and spring SLJC retreat
- Actively participate in at least one committee
- Participate and assist in SLJC events
- Facilitate organizational workshops and retreats (upon completion of leadership training)
- Maintain active involvement in at least one student organization
- Serve as leadership role models for the Case community
The overall commitment for general members is approximately 10 to 12 hours per month (about two to three hours per week).
Only general members are able to serve as council liaisons. Those general members elected as liaisons also will be required to attend their respective committee meetings.
Executive Members are expected to:
- Attend the weekly council meetings
- Chair a committee and their respective committee meetings
- Present at least one Leadership Journey Series workshop
- Fully complete leadership training and certification prior to taking office
- Attend the fall and winter leadership conference
- Attend the annual fall and spring SLJC retreat
- Participate and assist in all SLJC events
- Facilitate organizational workshops and retreats
- Maintain active involvement in at least one student organization in the Case community
- Serve as leadership role models for the Case community
- Serve one office hour a week in the Student Activities & Leadership office
The overall commitment for executive members is 16 to 20 hours per month (about four hours per week).
