Leadership Opportunities: Greek Life

Fall & Spring Leadership Conference

Every semester, Greek Life co-sponsors a leadership conference. The conference is composed of topics ranging from basic leadership to advanced leadership skills. The event is always popular and well-attended by representatives of the entire campus community.

LYCEUM—President's Retreat

This day-long leadership retreat occurs during the fall semester and is an opportunity for all Greek organizations to come together to gain essential skills and acquire valuable resources.  During the program President learn about their position, leadership skills, and the Office of Greek Life.

The Academy

Exploratory

The purpose of the Academy is to identify emerging leaders within chapters and begin to foster their skills for future roles within the Greek Life community. This day-and-a-half retreat provides an excellent opportunity to enhance one's leadership potential through the utilization of an Emotional Intelligence framework and the opportunity to network with emerging leaders throughout the Greek community.

Panhellenic Council and Interfraternity Congress

The Panhellenic Council (Panhel) and Interfraternity Congress (IFC) are the unifying, governing, and coordinating bodies of the sorority and fraternity community, and serve as the communication link between the sororities, fraternities, and university administration. Officers of Panhel and IFC have the opportunity to attend an officer retreat at the beginning of each semester as a means of setting goals, learning about essential skills for leading the Greek community, and building relationships between councils.

SMARRT Leader

Each spring, students can apply to be a peer educator for Greek Life's Policy & Procedure, Alcohol Education, and Sexual Assault Awareness programs. Student leaders will be trained on important topics affecting the community and taught essential presentation skills in order to better educate the Greek community.

Chapter Leadership

Each fraternity and sorority chapter prides iteself on being self-governed and provides excellent leadership opportunities through either elected positions or committees.

Order of Omega

Order of Omega is an honor society recognizing members of fraternities and sororities who are academically ranked above the undergraduate G.P.A. Membership selection is also based on service to one's chapter, the Greek community, campus life, the university, and the community.
