Allocated Funds
Sports Clubs having provisional status ( 1st and 2nd year ) will receive up to $1000.00 for
the year in matching funds from the sport club account. Matching funds means that these
clubs will have to generate funds equal to their request. Sports Clubs having full status
are eligible (starting in their third year ) for funding not to exceed $2000.00 or 70% of the
club's annual budget, whichever is less. Full sports clubs are expected to finance 30% of
the annual budget which must include a minimum $5.00 membership fee per club
member, per semester.
University funds for the next fiscal years budget will be based on the sports club ability to
follow policies and procedures. An incentive scale will be use to determine what percentage of
University funds will be available for club use for the following year. A point system is intended
to measure and reward the level of compliance of individual club sports with the policies stated
in the sport club manual and university regulations. Higher point totals may result in greater
funding and priority facility space allocations in the subsequent year. Points are awarded to
clubs based on several categories including attendance at mandatory training and meetings,
completion of required forms, and collection of dues and deducted based on failure to
complete forms, violation of facility usage and university rules. Sport clubs can earn
supplementary points through activities such as community service which, though encouraged,
are not mandated under the point system. These extra points will not substitute for points lost
through any type of non-compliance with the point system, but may instead be taken into
account in the allocation of any leftover funds, should they exist.
All clubs are to use University accounts for their allocated and generated funds. The use of
personal bank accounts or a club account at a private banking institution is prohibited.
Any request for funds in addition to those already allocated should be directed, in writing, to
the Sport Club Director. A full description and explanation of the need for additional funds
must be included in this request.
