Membership Guidelines

All officially enrolled Case Western Reserve University students (undergraduate and graduate), faculty and staff are eligible to join a sports club as a regular member. Intercollegiate athletes may compete for a sports club in the same academic year that they are listed as varsity players. However, the sport club in which they choose to participate may not be similar to their varsity participation.

A sports club may not restrict the number of members allowed, however, it is recognized that only a certain number can realistically participate in competition. It is the responsibility of each sports club to work out a fair and equitable method to accommodate members’ desires for coaching and competition.

Membership rosters are to be submitted to the Sport Club Director, who will process the names for eligibility. Sports clubs should pay attention to their sanctioning organizations, as to eligibility of graduate students, faculty and staff members. Ineligible individuals shall not be permitted to participate.

A sports club must have a membership of at least ten (10) full-time undergraduate students and a total membership must be at least sixty (60 %) percent students. That sixty percent (60%) of student club membership ( undergraduate and graduate students ) must have a minimum of sixty percent (60%) undergraduate students. All membership in sports clubs is open without regard to race, religion, age, sex, color, handicap, disability, sexual orientation, national or ethnic origin, political affiliation, or statues as a disabled veteran or veteran of the Vietnam era.
