What is a Sports Club?
A comprehensive sports club program is an integral part of campus recreation. It fills
the void between intramural sports activities and intercollegiate athletics. Sports clubs
give the university community an opportunity to participate in competitive sport activities
learn new skills, improve skill levels and enjoy the recreational and social fellowship
derived from sports involvement. Sports clubs have existed at Case Western Reserve
University for several years.
A Sports Club is a student organization recognized by the Physical Education and
Athletic Department that has been formed by individuals motivated by common interests
and a desire to participate in a favorite sport activity. Sports Clubs are governed by the
rules and regulations governing all student organizations. Participation is voluntary.
The Sports Club Program is coordinated by the Intramural Director in the Physical
Education and Athletic Department, who reviews disbursement of funds, schedules
facility space, and uses best effort to promote the objectives of the program.
The key to the success of this program and each club is student leadership and
participation. This manual has been prepared to assist clubs in the administration of
their program. However, the University cannot guarantee that the guidelines will be
followed or assume any liability if they are not.
