At Case Western Reserve University, the Department of Physical Education and Athletics is committed to educational development and achievement in athletics. Students develop ongoing fitness and lifetime sports skills, compete in a wide range of collegiate sports, participate in intramural teams and club sports, and learn the importance of responsible leadership.


Recent Sports Highlights


  • The 2008-2009 men's and women's soccer teams had eight total student-athletes chosen to the OCSA Academic All-Ohio Team, while seven students from the Spartan cross country teams received USTFCCCA Division III Men's and Women's XC Scholar Athletes of the Year honors.
  • The men's swim team broke seven school records during the recent UAA Swimming and Diving Championships in February.
  • In November 2008, Spartan junior quarterback Dan Whalen was named the Offensive Player of the Year, junior defensive back Bobby Bott was named the Defensive Player of the Year, and Case Western Reserve Head Coach Greg Debeljak and his staff were named the Coaching Staff of the Year. The Spartan coaching staff and Whalen earned these honors for the second straight year, while Bott was the UAA Rookie of the Year in 2006.
