Department of Sports Medicine

The Department of Sports Medicine at Case Western Reserve University is the link between the coaches, student-athletes and designated team physicians from University Hospitals of Cleveland. Three full-time, Ohio-licensed athletic trainers, certified by the National Athletic Trainers' Association Board of Certification (NATABOC) are on staff and work exclusively with Case's varsity student-athletes. They are also assisted by undergraduate students enrolled in the Sports Medicine Minor program.

More than 500 student-athletes participating in intercollegiate athletics at Case receive comprehensive health care from our experienced medical team. These athletes have benefited tremendously from the quality medical care the sports medicine department provides in terms of injury prevention, management, and rehabilitation for a safe return to competition. In addition, the sports medicine department is also heavily involved in facilitating educational programs promoting a healthy lifestyle for the active individual. The overall well-being of each individual student-athlete is our number one priority.
