The Share the Vision Leadership Award

The goal of the Share the Vision campaign is to build a just and humane campus community at Case. Through the efforts of faculty, staff, and students, the Share the Vision committee helps provide programs and activities that strengthen our sense of shared values and goals.

Each year, the Share the Vision committee selects a student or student group worthy of recognition for their contributions on campus. The following is a list of recent winners.

2005 Individual Award: Winnie Lai

Winnie Lai is noted for her energy, creativity, intelligence, and popularity. She worked tirelessly at Case on LGBTQAA issues, helped create a safe space on campus, and worked to encourage the Provost and President's office to take the initiative to create a LGBT web site. She also has been active in FMLA and Catalyst, served as president of Spectrum, participated in Leadershape, and was selected as an Orientation 2005 Leader.

2005 Group Award: Peer Helper Network

The Peer Helper Network was pivotal in establishing a new tradition in 2005. Along with working hard to reach out to students to promote healthy living and wise decision-making through peer education, this group, in conjunction with the President and Provost, implemented the "coming of Age Birthday Card", a card sent to all Case undergraduates upon their 21st Birthday with both a congratulatory message and a reminder to be responsible with alcohol.

2004: Vikram Seetharaman

An active member of our Share the Vision committee, Vikram has contributed to discussions and planning, and has attended all of the sponsored programs. He has also donated time and energy to educate and inform the campus community about the physical and attitudinal barriers to access for individuals with disabilities. Always willing to discuss his personal story and serve as an advocate for the removal of these barriers, Vikram has spoken at various programs, workshops, and in classes. As a role model to all of us, he has not allowed his own physical challenges to deter him from full participation in his fraternity events or campus activities.

2003: Mourad Ismail

2003 was the first year for our Share The Vision Student Leadership Award. Mourad Ismail was recognized for his outstanding and highly visible efforts to promote dialogue about the situation in the Middle East and to provide timely information to students, faculty, and staff. Mayo Bulloch, Chair of the Share the Vision Committee, spoke highly of Mourad at the 2003 recognition ceremony. "Mourad has worked diligently and ceaselessly to promote dialogue, to provide resources and information, and to promote peace in a world divided by religions, cultures, histories, and politics," she said. "He has knocked on every door and explored every possibility. Working with administrators, faculty, staff, and students, Mourad has earned the respect of all and become a source of inspiration to many."
