The Carl F. Wittke and J. Bruce Jackson, M.D., Awards
Case Western Reserve University recognizes undergraduate teachers who have done an outstanding job in the classroom, as well as faculty or staff members who show exceptional mentoring abilities.

Each year, nominations are solicited for the Carl F. Wittke and J. Bruce Jackson, M.D., awards that honor excellence in teaching and mentoring. The Carl F. Wittke Award was established in 1971 in honor of Carl Wittke, a former faculty member, dean, and vice president of Western Reserve University. The Wittke Award is presented each year to two Case Western Reserve University faculty members who demonstrate excellence in undergraduate teaching.
The J. Bruce Jackson, M.D., Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Mentoring was established by J. Bruce Jackson. The award is in honor of Carl F. Wittke who served as an advisor, mentor, and friend to Dr. Jackson when he was an undergraduate student at Western Reserve University. The Jackson Award recognizes outstanding advising and mentoring of undergraduate students at Case.
Because it is an honor to be nominated, all nominees are recognized at the President's Wittke/Jackson Reception at Harcourt House. The winners of these prestigious awards are congratulated each commencement at the Undergraduate Diploma Ceremony. Winners receive individual plaques and monetary awards. Their names are then added to the perpetual Wittke and Jackson plaques located in Thwing Center.
