|
History and political science major from New Philadelphia, Ohio
Fun Fact
I have been to 34 states and 3 continents.
How/why did you choose your major?
I always loved history in high school, thus chose it as my first major. I really am not sure how I got all the other majors and minors. I think I just enjoyed them and found myself taking enough classes that I declared!
What experiential activities have you participated in, or plan to participate in?
I served as a tour guide and exhibit interpreter at the Western Reserve Historical Society.
What career advice do you have for current Case students?
Don't be afraid to try anything once, whether it be a course, an extracurricular, or a new food!

Jena Schaier
|
Biomedical engineering major from Marblehead, Mass.
How/why did you choose your major?
My choice to study biomedical engineering came from my hope to blend my passions for art and medicine into a career in the area of reconstructive surgery.
What experiential activities have you participated in or plan to participate in?
My sophomore year I participated in the Career Connection program where I shadowed an orthopaedic surgeon during Spring Break. This was an incredible way for me to gain insight into the medical field and talk in depth with a professional.
What career advice do you have for current Case students?
Above all else, I'd say try as much as you can. The more I delved into areas of interest, the more I realized that there is so much out there that I didn't even know about.

LaVonne Sherald
|
Bioethics major from Pickerington, Ohio
Fun Fact
I represented the U.S. in a basketball tournament in Amsterdam and Germany in high school and we won the gold medal.
What have been some of your favorite courses? Why?
I really enjoyed a couple of my SAGES classes, specifically "Human Struggle Through the Lens of Sport" and "What is a Mother?" Those courses really changed how I viewed the world and forced me to think outside of the box when approaching different situations.
What career advice do you have for current Case students?
Don't be afraid to change your mind. College is about finding out who you are and what you enjoy, so if you suddenly find a passion for something outside of your current major, don't be afraid to take a chance and pursue it.

Management major from Cincinnati, Ohio
How/why did you choose your major?
I grew up watching my mother run her home-based business, and I have always taken an interest in the decisions that are made behind the scenes.

I have absolutely enjoyed all of my business courses. Each one has allowed me to realize that I really do love my major and that there are countless opportunities available upon graduation.
What career advice do you have for current Case students?
Don't assume that the Career Center's resources are only available to those people who have decided what their majors are. One of the most important steps you can take toward finding your ideal career is to become educated about what is available to you now as a student.
