Meet Our 2007-2008 Career Peers


  • Alex Hamberger hails from Buffalo, N.Y., and serves as the marketing & communications career peer, as well as the liaison to the arts and humanities majors in the College of Arts and Sciences. When not in the Career Center, Alex keeps busy with Sigma Nu, Case in Point, Footlighters, USG, and the Student Turning Point Society. He is also the co-chair for Case's first-ever Relay for Life to be held on April 18, 2008. As a management major with a marketing concentration, Alex's post-graduation plans will likely find him working for a marketing department of a major corporation.
  • Adam Rupe is a senior history and political science major from New Philadelphia, Ohio. He joined the Career Center staff in the fall of 2006 as the career peer for marketing and as a liaison to the students in arts and humanities at Case. This year, Adam works as the assessment assistant and is the career peer for the Case School of Engineering. Adam is also active in USG, Sigma Nu, and many other campus organizations. Next year, Adam will be a member of the Teach for America program in Washington, D.C. After Teach for America, he plans to attend graduate school, focusing on student affairs/higher education administration.
  • Jena Schaier is a senior biomedical engineering major from Marblehead, Mass. She joined the Career Center staff as a career peer in the fall of 2005 as the employer relations associate and liaison to the College of Engineering. Jena is now the career peer to undecided undergraduates and MSASS students. Outside the Career Center, she is active in Delta Gamma, Case Engineer's Council, and the Academic Integrity Board. She is also a teaching assistant (TA) for Chemistry of Materials. After graduation, Jena plans to work in the biotechnology field before heading back to graduate school.
  • LaVonne Sherald is a senior biology major from Pickerington, Ohio. She is an integrated graduate studies student, pursuing her Master of Arts in Bioethics. She joined the Career Center as a career peer in 2007 as the recruitment assistant and as a liaison to the College of Arts and Sciences. LaVonne has been a member of the women's basketball team. She is also involved in several campus organizations including Phi Alpha Delta. LaVonne plans to attend law school and hopes to pursue a career in health law.
  • Liz Smith is a sophomore management major from Cincinnati, Ohio. She joined the Career Center staff in 2007 as the experiential learning assistant and as a liaison to the students in Weatherhead School of Management. Liz is also a resident assistant for second-year students and an ELP mentor. The other organizations that Liz is involved with include the Academic Integrity Board, Alpha Kappa Psi, and various intramural sports.
