Accessing Services & Career Counseling

Four-Phase Career Development Model

The Career Center offers a variety of development workshops and events that are designed to have a transformational impact on students. These workshops and events focus on four primary career management skills.

Career Counseling Appointments

We are available to meet individually with undergraduates, graduate students, and alumni/ae, by appointment, to discuss any aspect of career development. Appointments cannot be scheduled through email. Please call our main number or drop by to make an initial appointment with a counselor.

For quick professional correspondence critiques/questions, please visit with a Career Center staff member during Consulting Hours.

Note: Due to the high volume of appointment requests, we are scheduling one mock interview appointment per student.

Attendance Policy: If you are 15 minutes late for an appointment, you will need to call us to reschedule. We do appreciate that situations arise which prevent attendance, but if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please call at least 24 hours before your appointment time. This allows time for your slot to be given to another client. Your career counseling privileges may be revoked if you fail to keep a scheduled appointment time twice.

Assessment Instruments

The Career Center offers a range of assessment tools to help students clarify major choice, identify career goals, and define interests and skills. Contact the Career Center to meet with a counselor and discuss your interest in these assessments.

Consulting Hours

Consulting Appointments are brief sessions with a Career Counselor. They are intended for quick questions and/or resume and cover letter critiques.

Career Peer Coffee Hours

During Career Peer Coffee Hours, Career Peers can give you a basic overview of the Credential Files System, review the "look" of your resume, show you how to navigate the Career Center's resources, and answer questions about upcoming programs and Career Center services.

Career Workshops

Each semester, we offer a range of targeted workshops to prepare students for their career search. Topics include interviewing skills, resume writing and job search, and preparing for graduate school.

Mock Interviews

A mock interview is a 60-minute individual session with a career counselor to help you prepare and strategize for future interviews.

Special Presentation Requests

In addition to our extensive Career Workshop schedule, the Career Center considers program requests from student organizations and faculty. To inquire about a program, please submit a Program Request Form.
