Van Use Certification and Rates
Those certified to drive the vans must abide by all Van Use Regulations.
CCEL Van Certification
The following steps must be taken and completed before a Center for Civic Engagement and Learning (CCEL) van may be reserved or driven.
CCEL Vans only can be used for direct community service projects. Due to liability issues, drivers of the van will only transport CWRU-affiliated students, staff, faculty and alumni. All van drivers must be certified by the Center for Civic Engagement & Learning. This process involves the following:
- Attend Case Western Reserve University Van Safety Training conducted by Case's Department of Occupational & Environmental Safety (DOES). DOES schedules trainings upon request; you must call 216.368.2907 to schedule a training session.
- Bring a copy of the Driver Safety Confirmation Form, signed by DOES, to CCEL after the training.
- Bring your driver's license to CCEL so that a photocopy can be made.
- Schedule and complete CCEL's Practice Driving Session. This session involves learning about the CCEL van sign-out procedure, where the vans are parked, and a 10-15 minute practice driving session. To schedule, contact 216.368.6960.
- Read and sign the Van Usage Contract and the Automobile Incidents Procedures Form.
