  • March is National Nutrition Month. NNM is a nutrition education and information campaign created by the American Dietetic Association. The campaign is designed to focus attention on the importance of making informed food choices and developing sound eating and physical activity habits. Visit their Nutrition Information page for information on food choices.
  • Spring Break Buckets will be distributed Friday, March 7, in the atria of Nord and Thwing during Community Hour (12:30 - 2 p.m.) while supplies last. Drop by and get a bucket filled with great stuff for a healthy and happy Spring Break.
  • The 3rd Annual Celebrate Recovery at Case, a fundraiser benefiting Prevention & Recovery Services, will be held on Saturday, April 19, 2008. The event will be held from 6-10 p.m. in the Dively Center at Ford and Bellflower. Save the Date!
  • Thanks to all those who took advantage of the Wellness Week programs. We had a week full of great healthy living seminars, including time management, smoking cessation, women's health, better nutrition, yoga, stress management, and meditation. E-mail us your ideas for our next wellness event.

Managing Stress Through Meditation

A large body of scientific research shows the effectiveness of meditation in reducing the symptoms of stress (including migraine headaches and muscle tension), and in calming the mind and relaxing the body. Studies have shown that meditation helps both the mind and body gain a state of profound rest — much more so than deep sleep.

Meditation is not a form of hypnosis or sleep. It is not necessarily associated with — nor does it conflict with — any religious tradition. You are fully awake and aware when meditating. More
