Announcements
- Walk In My Shoes is an experiential exercise in awareness of issues around socioeconomic status, body image, and racism. The event will be held on Wednesday, April 9, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in 310 Nord Hall. For more information, please contact Vicky Wright.
- The 3rd Annual Celebrate Recovery at Case, a fundraiser benefiting Prevention & Recovery Services, will be held on Saturday, April 19. The event will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. in the Dively Center at Ford and Bellflower. Save the Date!
- The Lavender Ball, hosted by SPECTRUM for GLBT students and friends, will be held on Saturday, April 5 in Hovorka Atrium. The event starts at 9 p.m., so join us for food, music, and fun. Check out the website to learn more about SPECTRUM.
- Sexual Assault Awareness Month helps raise awareness of sexual violence and how to prevent it. See the article in this month's newsletter for more information on upcoming activities.
- Alcohol Awareness Month is a time for students to take a look at their drinking and its consequences, and determine if they need to make some changes. UCS offers free, anonymous online screening for alcohol and other potential problems. Try out the screening and see if you might benefit from talking to a professional.
- Gay? Fine By Me T-Shirt Distribution will take place Friday, April 4, in Nord Atrium from 12:30 to 1:30 pm. The Gay? Fine By Me project helps people express an anti-homophobic sentiment in a very public way. By wearing these shirts, students, faculty, and staff send a message that homophobia is NOT OK. For more information, contact Dana Finch.
- A Beginner's Tai Chi Workshop will be held on Thursday, April 24, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The workshop will be held in the Spartan Room of Thwing Center as part of the Women's Wellness Series. The event is sponsored by the Flora Stone Mather Center for Women and 1-2-1 Fitness Center. If you are interested in attending, please send your RSVP to Katie Hanna.
Some Facts about Suicide

More than 32,000 suicides occur in the United States each year. Suicide is the 11th leading cause of death in American adults. It is the second leading cause of death in college students. The No. One cause of suicide is untreated depression.
However, many other factors can contribute to suicide. Transition into (or out of) college can be a very stressful and confusing time for many students, which can lead to distress about life situations and a sense of hopelessness. More
Sexual Assault Awareness Month

By now, most of you have probably memorized the bathroom posters telling you that "...you might be tested on this tonight." What the posters won't tell you is that April is recognized every year as Sexual Assault Awareness Month by the National Sexual Violence Resource Center.
Sexual Assault Awareness Month raises awareness of sexual violence and its prevention through special events. It also highlights sexual violence as a major public health issue and reinforces the need for prevention efforts. More
