Sex, Drugs & Rock 'n' Roll Week: Sept. 26 - 28, 2007
Rethinking Gender at Case
Discussing gender identity with a faculty member, roommate, fraternity brother, or sorority sister may seem downright awkward, if not dangerous, on some college campuses. Transgendered people including faculty and students are emerging from their cocoons, causing their communities to rethink the traditional definition of gender identification.
At Case, we have created the dialogue in small groups, but we need an open forum for all to ask questions and to learn more about what we need to do to be ready to be a fully inclusive community.
- Do we know what it means to identify as a man or a woman, regardless of anatomy?
- Are we ready to be a more inclusive community?
- Would you welcome a roommate if he or she had a sex-reassignment procedure?
- Are we ready to be mentored by a transgendered faculty member?
- Is your residence hall, fraternity, or sorority ready to accept a transgendered student?
Please join us in a series of activities during Sex, Drugs & Rock 'n' Roll Week, which is aimed at increasing awareness of transgendered individuals at Case.
