    Chemistry 105 Text Book suggestion

Case Western University Chemistry 105 requires student to buy the 5th edition General Chemistry which is about 100 dollar. But the 4th edition of used General Chemistry is only about 5 dollar. So I wander if any of the upper class dudes could tell me is it possiliable that I buy the 4 th edition of the General Chemistry and still could use it in the class without too much confusion invovling homework assigment and ect.. The 4 edition book is such a good bargain, plus, I had took AP Chemistry in my senior year, thus I have pretty good chemistry fountation.

I also have a question about textbooks in general - would it be ok to buy the international editions of books?  They are a lot cheaper than the U.S. edition, but are they any different?

The only major differences in editions and the international versions are the problem sets, and sometimes even those are the same.  This is a question you should e-mail your professors about, they will probably be familiar with many books.  Usually international editions are exactly the same except in black and white and are paperback.  If you ever do you a different version of a textbook, it's always a good idea to check with a friend who has the real one to make sure you're doing the right problems.  Sometimes chapters are moved around too.
