Questions about Services for Students with Disabilities

  1. If I have a disability, whom should I let know?See answer to question...

Students at Case are not required to disclose disability information to anyone. However, in order to use services and appropriate accommodations, students should notify the Associate Director of Disability Resources in Educational Services for Students, 470 Sears Building.

  2. If I contact ESS, who else will know about my disability?See answer to question...

The Associate Director of Disability Resources or any other ESS staff member that is aware of your disability will keep this information strictly confidential. Students decide who needs to know about their disability. ESS is the only department that will determine your eligibility.

Accommodations and services are available for students with a variety of disabilities including: visual impairment, hearing impairment, mobility limitations, chronic illness, psychological disorders and learning disabilities.

Students are "fitted" with the services and accommodations that will be most helpful for their particular needs. We are able to offer the following: advocacy, special testing accommodations, adaptive equipment, scheduling assistance, transportation assistance, access to audio-taped text material, note-taking assistance, interpreters, parking assistance and accessible housing.

  6. What about a temporary disability?See answer to question...

Students with temporary disabilities such as broken or sprained limbs and acute illness should also contact the Associate Director of Disability Resources in ESS. Under these circumstances, accommodations can be made for the duration of the problem. Accommodations can include transportation, special parking, and testing accommodations as needed.

Remember: A DISABILITY doesn't have to be a LIABILITY.
