Incoming and New Undergraduate Students

Welcome to Case!

We're excited that you chose to come here and we want to work with you to make this a challenging and enriching journey. As a new student, you may want to take a look at the parent's page for some additional information that may be helpful.

To begin you will need to complete the disclosure form (online) and also send accompanying documentation, under separate cover, to the Disability Resources office in Educational Services for Students (ESS). Please submit the disclosure form electronically.

The documentation must be from a qualified professional outlining the history of your disability and the impact it has on any of your major life activities. Please review the policy and procedures for students with disabilities at Case for more specific information regarding documentation requirements.

Upon receipt of your disclosure form and the accompanying documentation, a member of the Disability Resources staff will contact you for an individual appointment to discuss your personal situation. Accommodations are individually determined based on your needs, the information within the documentation and the information from your interview. Students should understand that it takes time to process the disclosure form and documentation. Consideration for accommodations will not begin until the documentation is received and reviewed. Minimally, after receipt of all information, the office of Disability Resources will need one week to process your request.

You are responsible for initiating and continuing the processes involved in securing accommodations. At the post secondary level, students (not parents) must keep in contact with the Disability Resources office to maintain their eligibility and secure services. Accommodations and other considerations cannot be made retroactively. Students need to be proactive and meet with a Disability Resources staff member at the beginning of each semester to make arrangements for their needs for that semester.

The Disability Resources staff is available to students by appointment. Students should call the ESS office at 216.368.5230 and schedule appointments as needed. The Disability Resources staff will work with students as often as they need, if they schedule the appropriate appointments.

The Disability Resources office is here to assist students with disabilities to fully participate in their chosen programs and activities. Please contact the office to make an appointment discuss your personal needs.
