Outside of the Classroom
By Ramya Keshavaram, Biochemistry, Class of 2008
When trying to succeed at academics, there are a few things I've learned throughout my undergrad years here at Case.
First, keep in mind that you are not going to approach each class you take with the same study strategy. For example, in some classes, you will really benefit from studying in a group, but other classes require more individual work. Also, find the times of day that you work best. For instance, many people don't work well in the early afternoon, so they choose to do something else and come back to studying later. As difficult as it can be, review class material on a regular basis instead of cramming the night before an exam. It really is the most effective way to learn the material!
Don't hesitate to ask your professor for clarification on topics that you find difficult. They are there to help, and they really appreciate your effort to learn the material. I think the most important thing, however, is to always take care of yourself. If you're healthy, you will be much more productive with your time. Don't lose sleep (some people naturally need more sleep than others) and eat healthily! Always remember to have fun with your friends, and take breaks from your hard work!
