Balance
By Marissa Morgan, Aerospace Engineering, Class of 2011
During your first year at Case, opportunities for involvement will jump out at you. You could easily sign up for twenty different organizations and try to do them all. But the key to a successful first year is balance. You need time to study, participate in extracurricular activities, eat, and have fun.
You need to find what works best for you. Personally, I carry around my handy dandy planner and write down everything from homework to appointments in it. Sometimes I even write out a time schedule for the day. My only problem with this was that I often forgot to leave time to shower so that wouldn't happen until 3:00 am!
Instead of a planner, maybe you're into Post-it notes or just memorization; whatever it is, use it. You may often feel overwhelmed with too much to do; but do what you can and don't forget that you are here to learn.
