ESS Academic Resources

Academic Inventory

The best way to make any important changes in life is to take a moment to assess what is going well and what needs some adjustment.

External Resources

There are numerous great learning resources available on the Internet. The trouble is finding the time to search for them. We've compiled links to some of the most frequently visited on-line learning resources.

SuccESS Strategies

ESS has put together a series of one-page sheets of hints, tips and tricks to make learning easier.

Peer Tutoring

Peer tutoring is available to all Case undergraduate students.  Peer tutors are undergraduate students who have been nominated by professors and trained by ESS to work with you on an individual and/or group basis regarding undergraduate courses at Case.  Students can schedule up to 5 free hours of tutoring per week.  For a complete list of available tutoring appointments, or to request a tutor for a course not listed, visit tutortrac.case.edu.

GROUP TUTORING sessions are also available for ECON 102, ECON 103, NURS 211, NURS 230, and NURS 240.  For a complete schedule of group tutoring sessions visit the Group Tutoring Schedule.

Plain Dealer Electronic Learning Center

The Plain Dealer Electronic Learning Center (PDELC) is a public computing facility located in 464 Sears Building. The PDELC offers printing and computing services targeting undergraduate commuters, students from multicultural backgrounds, and students with disabilities. Up-to-date computer systems, a work area to prepare classroom presentations, and laser and color printing is available to all students, staff, and faculty.

SAGES Writing Crew

The members of the SAGES Writing Crew are veteran seminar students who can assist you with general writing skills and with specific questions about your essay assignments. Tutoring sessions are held at various locations, including the Kelvin Smith Library and the Arabica coffeehouse.

Supplemental Instruction

The Supplemental Instruction (SI) program provides regularly scheduled, student facilitated study sessions for traditionally difficult courses at Case.  SI leaders have successfully completed the course, are recommended by their professor, and trained by ESS.  SI sessions are FREE and your participation is completely voluntary. Attending sessions allows you to ask questions, review notes, practice problems and prepare for exams in a relaxed environment.
