Presentation Workshop Series
Educational Services for Students introduces a presentation workshop series to enhance your skills as a presenter. Learn ways to organize your work, understand your audience, use appropriate visual aids, and speak with confidence.
Workshop 1 –
Presentation Speaking Skills Overview. This one hour workshop will explore and address the public speaking challenges you will experience as a presenter. The workshop will focus on verbal and body language as well as addressing common fears of public speaking.
• Register for Thursday, January 20, February 17, or March 24
Workshop 2 – Using PowerPoint and How To Avoid Clutter and Confusion This workshop will help you quickly layout and add text and images necessary to make effective presentations. This workshop will also focus on presenting quantitative data and graphics in your presentation. Learning how to present large amoungs of data while not distracting the audience from your message will also be covered.
• Register for Thursday, January 27, February 24, or March 31
Workshop 3 – Putting It All Together/Review and Feedback. This workshop will demonstrate how to create a checklist to be certain that you have prepared eaverything needed for a successful presentation. There will also be a discussion on the tiing of distributing handouts and suppleental mateials during your presntation. Bring your presentation on (on a USB flash drive) and materials (posters, handouts, ice-breakers, etc.) for editing and refining.
• Register for Thursday February 3, March 3, or April 7
Workshop 4: Practicing Your Presentation. This workshop will be an opportunity to practice in front of an audience for feedback. The option to have your presentation bideotaped to take with you will be available. This workshop is limited to ten participants.
