At Check-In, you'll receive your Family Weekend folders, schedule of events, free souvenir, and wristband that will allow you access to all of the weekend's programs. The friendly Family Weekend committee will welcome you and answer any questions. Don't forget your non-perishable food item!

There's Always Time for Kuumba! (Student Performances)

Kuumba is the Swahili word for "creativity." Please join us as we celebrate the creativity of some of our student performance organizations. Enjoy the rich talents of our students as well as the rich flavor of cultural food. Song and music combine to demonstrate to families what a truly amazing student body we have! The Family Weekend committee can provide you with campus maps, local information, and lots of advice on how to enjoy your time at Case. You also can pick up the wristbands that will admit you to all Family Weekend events.

Case's favorite faculty and staff members offer a special session on an exciting topic of their choice. Learn about the engineering of plastic beer bottles or how to find the perfect shots in your photography skills. Please feel free to select one of the lectures. Check out the list of sessions!

Carnival, Games, Community Service & Food!

Join the members of the Residence Hall Association (RHA) for an afternoon of games, activities, food and fun for the entire family! You'll also have the opportunity to engage in a variety of community service projects.

Little Spartans Cheerleading Clinic (ages 3 - 12)
1 - 3 p.m., Veale Center
(Additional fee: $20 includes t-shirt and snack)
Boys and girls ages 3-12 are welcome to come learn cheers and dances from the Case cheerleaders then stay for the Case Soccer game and perform during halftime with the cheerleaders! The game is at 5:00pm at the Stadium.

The Ohio City Historic West Side: Featuring the Great Lakes Brewery and West Side Market
12 - 3 p.m. * NOTE TIME CHANGE
Tour Cleveland’s premier craft brewery and take a taste of one of the country’s finest regional drinks! Also, while visiting historic Ohio City, stop by the West Side Market, Cleveland’s oldest publicly owned markets featuring some of the freshest food in the area! This tour will depart from CWRU at 12:15 p.m. GL Brewery tours leave at the top of the hour (1pm, 2pm, 3pm ) from the GLB Co. Retail Store (right next to the restaurant) and are on a first come-first served basis. You can enjoy a meal and then visit the brewery or vice versa. Participants can tour the brewery or enjoy a meal at any of the following Ohio City Historic Regional restaurants (all within walking distance).
(Participants will need to bring their own spending money)

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
1 - 4 p.m. * NOTE TIME CHANGE
Visit the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum at a reduced rate, sponsored by the Office of Annual Giving and the Parents Fund. Experience seven floors of exhibits highlighting the history behind the birth of rock and roll and spanning to today’s popular artists, including six interactive listening exhibits, including the 500 Songs that shaped Rock and Roll.

Great Lakes Science Center

Take a trip downtown to explore one of Cleveland's signature venues. The museum features interactive science, technology, and environment-focused exhibits fun for the whole family!

Cleveland Museum of Art Tour

Explore the newly renovated and expanded museum located right in Case’s backyard! Participants will have the opportunity to view special exhibits and take a walk down to Little Italy.

Join parents and students for light appetizers and drink specials! The Spot is the famous on-campus hangout for students at Case Western Reserve University! The Spot is located in the bottom level of Leutner Commons and is open to the student communities of Case, Cleveland Institute of Art, and the Cleveland Institute of Music.

The Alumni House: Special Tours and Breakfast
9 - 11 a.m., The Alumni House, Juniper Road
Enjoy a hearty breakfast and docent-lead tours of Case Western Reserve University's home away from home for alumni and friends. Connect with fellow parents for a light continental breakfast at the beautiful Alumni House on Juniper Road. Alumni will also be on hand to give tours and answer questions about the historic home.

Lolly the Trolley (Special Tour): Ethnic Markets Tour (additional fee: $15)
11:15 - 1:30 p.m., Meet outside of The Alumni House on Juniper Road
Put the world in your shopping bag as we explore the wonderful and varied food stores which serve our ethnically diverse population. Cleveland's history as a melting pot for cultures becomes a shop-till-you-drop experience! Stops may include Italian, Middle Eastern, Hispanic/Caribbean, Asian, Greek, German and, of course, the marvelous West Side Market, one of the largest indoor/outdoor food and produce markets in the world featuring 185 purveyors, many with four generations of family ownership. If there is time, there also will be a stop at 10,000 Villages Gift Shop or a local restaurant supply store.
