The following is a list of 2008 Homecoming events. This page will be updated with 2009 events, once events and venues are finalized.
Friday, September 26
Spirit Banner Contest & Painting Party
Time: 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Location: Alumni House (under the tent)
Students, alumni, faculty, and staff are invited to join the class officers in celebrating our school pride by creating a spirit banner. Materials will be provided and pizza will be served. The organization/department that wins the banner contest will be awarded a pizza party. Winners will be announced at the SpiritFest!
Monday, September 29
Office/Department Decorating Contest
Show your Spartan Spirit by decorating your space in Blue and White to celebrate Homecoming 2008. All participants should email crb3@case.edu to be entered into the decorating contest for a chance to win a pizza party for up to 25 at the Jolly Scholar.
Wednesday, October 1
Office/Department Decorating Contest Judging
Enter your office/department with the Student Activities office (crb3@case.edu) by 11 a.m. on Wednesday to be eligible for the contest. The most spirited office/department will win a pizza party for up to 25 provided by the Jolly Scholar.
Homecoming Spot Night
Time: 9:30 p.m. – 12 a.m.
Location: The Spot
Host: The Spot and UPB
Students are encouraged to celebrate the kick-off of Homecoming Weekend at The Spot where The Silent Years and Conduct will be playing. Stop by and meet the Homecoming candidates while snacking on wings.
Thursday, October 2
Emeriti Faculty Breakfast
Time: 9 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.
Location: The Alumni House
Host: The Alumni Association
The Alumni House All Emeriti Faculty are invited to attend a special breakfast at The Alumni House. Guests will learn about the future plans for the facility and will have an opportunity to reconnect with alumni.
Powder Puff Football Game
Time: 9 p.m.
Location: CWRU Stadium
Host: The Class Officer Collective
An emerging tradition at Case Western Reserve University, the Powder Puff Football Game brings junior and senior girls together to battle on the field while boys from the respective classes cheer them on. During halftime, there will be competitions and we will announce the Homecoming Court.
Friday, October 3
All-Alumni, Grand Classes Luncheon featuring University update by President Barbara Snyder
Time: 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
Location: TBD
All alumni are encouraged to attend this special luncheon that will feature an update by President Barbara Snyder and the awarding of the Distinguished Alumni Award of the Alumni Association of Case Western Reserve University. All graduates before — and including the class of 1985 — are invited as guests of Case Western Reserve University.
Spartan SpiritFest
Time: 12:30 – 2 p.m.
Location: Thwing Center Atrium
Stop by Thwing and snack on some island food while listening to steel drum music. We will be announcing the Homecoming Court, the winning Powder Puff team, and the banner/office/department decorating contest winners! Faculty, staff and students are encouraged to attend!
Taste of Cleveland Celebration at the House of Blues
Time: 5 p.m. - midnight
Location: The House of Blues, 308 Euclid Ave.
All alumni, students, and friends are invited to join us at the world-renowned House of Blues for an exciting alumni weekend celebration that you won't forget! All alumni are invited to enjoy a hearty, southern-style reception as you network with the Case community in downtown Cleveland. Ticket price includes free admission to the House of Blues, free hors d'oeuvres, and two drink tickets.
Free shuttles will run from the Thwing Student Center to the House of Blues from 5 p.m. - midnight. Please refer to Transportation and Event Shuttles for schedule.
Saturday, October 4
Parade
Time: 10:30 a.m. - 11 a.m.
As the parade makes its way through campus, alumni and their families are welcome to join in the fun! Former athletes are encouraged to wear their letter sweaters and walk in the parade. Sign up your organization today!
All parade participants should be at the lot at Euclid Avenue/115th Street at 10 a.m. to receive information on their placement. Don't want to walk in the parade? Then come out and watch!
Pre-Game Tailgate Party
Time: 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Location: Wade Commons (under the tent)
General Admission: $10.00
Be sure to be a part of this festive tailgate party at the Case football field. Join current students and fellow alumni for a buffet lunch. There will be special appearances by the Case cheerleaders and the Spartan mascot. Make sure to stop by the stadium right after the tailgate to watch the game and support our Spartans as we battle Denison University at 1:05 p.m.
Homecoming Football Game
Time: 1:05 p.m. - 3 p.m.
Location: The Village at 115 Athletic Stadium
Don't miss this year's Homecoming Football game on the beautiful, athletic stadium located at The Village at 115. Show your BLUE AND WHITE FEVER by wearing your Case gear to cheer on our Spartans against Denison University.
Football Game Tailgate
Time 1:05 p.m. - 3 p.m.
Location: Between Village Houses #1 and #3
During the game, join UPB and the Black Greek Council in a Football Tailgate sponsored by the Spot.
CAA/CSE Oktoberfest
Time: 3 p.m.
Location: Wade Commons (under the tent)
Join the Alumni Association for a celebration that includes authentic German music, dancing, singing, and the very best in German food and drink.
Homecoming Soccer Games
Spartans vs. New York University
Women's Match at 5 p.m.
Men's Match at 7:30 p.m.
Post-game Tailgate - DG Style
Time: 5 p.m.
Location: CWRU Delta Gamma House (2265 Murray Hill Road)
All Delta Gamma sisters are invited to sport their college gear for a party at the DG house following the Homecoming game. Come mingle with sisters old and new over pizza and pop.
Homecoming Dance
Date: Saturday, October 4, 9:30 p.m. - Sunday, Oct 5, 1 a.m.
Location: under the tent on Freiberger Field
For this year's Spartan Paradise theme, dress attire for the Homecoming Dance is completely up to the attendee. If your complimentary lei (given upon entry) will not clash with your outfit, then it is totally appropriate! Some people will want to dress up and others won't ... the choice is up to you! This year the dance is FREE and light refreshments will be provided.
Sunday, October 5
Interdenominational Religious/Memorial Service
Time: 10 - 11:30 a.m.
Location: The Alumni House, 11310 Juniper Road
Join us for an interdenominational religious service. All alumni and the campus community are invited.

3rd Annual GospelFest
Time: 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Location: Cleveland Museum of Natural History
Join us for the third annual Case Western Reserve University GospelFest. Enjoy a selection of light hors d'oeuvres and hear the best of Cleveland's gospel music scene at this soulful, uplifting event.
