Prairie Restoration Project

A new prairie restoration project started in the spring of 2006. The project is being done in collaboration with the Cleveland Museum of Natural History and the Ohio Prairie Nursery Ltd. The program aims to restore four acres of old pasture area into a native prairie containing several Ohio indigenous grasses and twenty forbs species.

The prairie restoration will not only enhance the farm's rich wildlife, but it will be a teaching and research tool to complement our expanding academic programs. The prairie site will also serve as a great education tool for our farm visitors.

The first survey taken in May of 2007 showed a consistent presence of several early prairie forbs. Other species will appear over time and the grasses should be visible later this summer.
