Wind Turbine
With $15,000 from the Case Western Reserve campus sustainability fund, a feasibility study to explore the possibility of installing a wind turbine at the farm. The study examinined the practicability of wind-generated energy as a cost-effective way to meet the farm's electrical needs.
In March 2009, a construction permit to erect a wind turbine was obtained from the Village of Hunting Valley for a 130-foot tower located by the farm research areas.
In October, 2010 a contract was signed with Ventus Delecto LLC to install a 33kW wind turbine that could produce up to 70 percent of the total electricity consumed by the farm teaching and research facilities.

The wind turbine will be used as demonstration projects for Case Western Reserve students and for the hundreds of grade-school children and teachers who come to the farm each year for environmental programs. In addition, the wind turbine at the farm will be a pioneering effort and serve as a showcase for the environmentally friendly technology.
