School Visitation Program

Padua Students

The School Visitation Program is a hands-on program designed to reinforce concepts and field methods in the areas of environmental science and ecology for middle and high school students. It was developed by the University Farm administration with the support of the College of Arts and Sciences, the Department of Biology and the Center for Science and Mathematics Education. Participating teachers and their classes receive pre- and post-visit curriculum packages to help prepare their students for the visit and to reinforce concepts in the classroom. Because of the intense nature of the visit, great consideration is given to these pre- and post-visit materials for use in the classroom.

The program was initiated, thanks to a three-year grant from the Dolphin Trust Fund in Fall 2002. The ongoing program serves between 10 to 12 local schools yearly. For more information, please contact Dr. Ana Locci or Patty Gregory at 216.368.0274.
