Picnic Area Guidelines

  1. Only recognized University groups may use the picnic areas. Reservations can be made by CWRU staff or faculty only. An individual affiliated with CWRU may reserve one picnic area only for a private family group of up to 30 people free of charge.Private affiliated picnics must fall within the 30 person limit (no corporate or business events permitted).
  2. The picnic areas close at dusk. No overnight camping events permitted.
  3. All dogs must be leashed at all times. Please keep dogs out of restricted areas (signs are posted). See our dog policy for more information.
  4. Picnic area 1, 2, 3, and 6 need to be reserved. Areas 3 and 6 are under shelters and can host 120 guests each. Areas 1 and 2 can host up to 20 guests per site.
  5. Shelters 4 and 5 by the fishing pond and the evergreen grove can be used on a first-come, first-served basis.
  6. There is no electricity at the picnic areas.
  7. Not permitted to post event signs on Farm property. 
  8. Softball fields and volleyball areas are to be shared by all.
  9. There are grills at every picnic area. Do not bring in grilling/cooking equipment.
  10. No bonfires are permitted.
  11. Garbage and trash must be put in the trash cans with the lids tightly closed. Please put recyclables in the recycling cans.
  12. Carry your CWRU ID Card.
  13. Groups using the picnic areas are subject to general farm policies and guidelines.
  14. Research areas (ponds) are off limits to everyone.
  15. No live music bands or DJs are allowed. Music volume must be contained to your picnic area.
  16. Beer and wine are allowed at the picnic areas. Kegs are not allowed. Open containers must be disposed of prior to leaving property.
  17. No tents or inflatables are permitted.
  18. All departments (not family picnics) will be charged a minimal fee for usage of picnic areas. The 2009/2010 usage fee is $75.
  19. Picnic areas are open from the second week in April through the first weekend in October.
