Website Guidelines

Today, as more and more fraternity chapters develop web pages for parents, students and potential members, it is important that Greek Life maintain a set of standards to prevent the proliferation of inaccurate information.

Greek Life offers a website from which many potential new Greeks gain their first introductions to campus chapters. As a result, Greek Life reserves the right to refuse to allow campus fraternities and sororities to link to the Greek Life website if they fail to meet the guidelines listed below:

Guidelines for Fraternity/Sorority Websites

  1. There must be no representation of any alcoholic beverage(s), generic or brand name, in connection with a Fraternity/Sorority or Greek Life, directly or indirectly.
  2. There must be no representation that would associate Greek Life, a Fraternity/Sorority, a Chapter or a Brother/Sister with illegal drugs or similar substances.
  3. Any content that denigrates women or is violent in nature is explicitly forbidden.
  4. Sexual material must never appear on any pages.
  5. No foul language shall be used in any context on any pages.
  6. The content of all pages should not denigrate other Greek organizations, universities or university personnel.
  7. There should not be representation, in any form, of activities related to hazing.
  8. All content must respect the rights of others. All web pages, related sites or hyperlinked pages should always meet the required guidelines stated in 1-7 above. Individual fraternities on campus play an important role in maintaining the image of Greek Life.
  9. Providing these guidelines are followed, Chapters may link to the main page of the Greek site.
  10. If Greek Life chooses to terminate a link to a Chapter website, the chapter will be notified immediately. If the problem is addressed sufficiently, the link will be reinstated.
