Greek Life LYVE: Living Your Values Everyday

LYVE

The Greek Life LYVE Program is a way for the chapter leadership to get members to participate in values programs of benefit to the chapter and expose members to other resources in the campus community.

The goal of the program is to promote quality programs in chapters under our four values of leadership, scholarship, citizenship, and ritual. Most chapters are required to have a certain number of programs to promote the development of members. Members, however, may not be interested for a number of reasons including quality, topic, timing, or commitment.

A chapter needs to attend or hold eight (8) programs over the course of the calendar year. Programs need to be presented by professionals in their respective field or by someone outside of the chapter membership. At least 65% of the chapter (members and pledges) need to attend each program. (Sorry, sanctioned programs don’t count.)

Chapters completing the challenge get the choice of rewards: Spot rental, cake, donuts, pizza, ice cream, Chipotle, laser tag, whirly ball, paintball, or movie night (up to a $200 value). Also, all of the chapters completing the challenge will be entered into a drawing for a big prize like a chapter T-shirt (the design must be approved by the Greek Life Office), formal gift, grill, composite, TV, or house improvement up to a value of $500.

The underlying idea of this program is not to add programming to the chapter, but improve current chapter programs.

Here are some examples of different programs that would count toward LYVE. The above requirements apply unless otherwise noted.

    •  Attendance at Greek III, Faculty Forum, or other campus speaker
    •  Holding a SMARRT program
    •  A speaker from ESS, UCS, Student Activities, Career Center, or other university offices
    •  Museums or other cultural programs
    •  A single philanthropy event that raises $30 per member
    •  Up to 1 sporting event with 80% of the chapter in attendance
    •  Undergraduate performances in the arts with 80% of the chapter in attendance
    •  25% of the chapter volunteering to work a university program, i.e. Career Fair, Springfest, UPB concerts, graduation, etc.

To record a program please download the LYVE form, complete, and return to the Greek Life Office.
