The sorority system at Case started in 1883 at the Cleveland College for Women, a branch of Western Reserve College. Since that founding date, other chapters have been chartered bringing the number of sororities to seven.

The Panhellenic Council was founded at Case in 1981, and it has grown to be a vital part of the sorority system, one that makes for a better and stronger Greek experience. The Panhellenic Council is the unifying, governing and coordinating body of the sorority system, and it serves as the communication link between the sororities and the University administration. As the largest women's group on campus, the Panhellenic Council serves as a forum for Greek, campus, and residence life affairs. It consists of six sorority representatives (one from each sorority), seven executive officers, and an advisor.

Panhellenic seeks to promote strength through its various programs, such as workshops on scholarship, women's issues, and a variety of other subjects.

Panhellenic meets regularly on a bi-weekly basis to discuss current business and discuss womens' issues. Please see the Greek Life calendar for specific times, dates, and location.
