Integrity Week 2012

Get ready for Integrity Week 2012! The weeklong events hosted by the Case’s Academic Integrity Board (AIB) will feature events ranging from a casual hot chocolate meet-and-greet with the AIB to a panel discussion on this year’s Integrity Week theme “Fostering a Culture of Integrity” featuring Case’s student and faculty leaders. Though many think of the AIB as purely a group of involved students adjudicating academic integrity hearings, the board also takes a preventative role in educating the campus on the many pitfalls of the academic integrity policy through the events of the annual Integrity Week, which will also feature a Mock Hearing and a keynote speaker to kickoff the event late in February. Below is a list of the dates and locations of where the events are to be held – be on the lookout for fliers and classroom announcements of Integrity Week 2012!

The highlight of this year’s Integrity Week is our keynote speaker, who is being graciously sponsored by the Inamori International Center for Ethics and Excellence. Our esteemed and celebrated speaker is Captain Rick Rubel of the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. After graduating from the US Naval Academy in 1972 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, CAPT Rubel occupied numerous positions, including Commanding Officer at the Long Beach naval base and Program Manager of the Arleigh Burke Class Destroyer Program. CAPT Rubel also played a significant role in the development of the Navy’s Aegis Cruiser Program. CAPT Rubel was appointed as the first Distinguished Military Professor of Ethics at USNA and is the occupant of the “General Robert T. Herres Distinguished Military Professorship Chair of Leadership and Ethics.” He is currently the coordinator of the US Naval Academy’s Core Ethics Course and oversees their Honor Remediation Program, which is an intensive, year-long program that midshipmen must complete after committing an academic integrity violation. CAPT Rubel will be speaking about integrity, ethical leadership, and character development.
