Room Decorations and Modifications

Students may not make any permanent structural changes to their rooms. This includes, but is not limited to the following:

  1. Applying wallpaper, contact paper, and borders
  2. Altering doors, walls, closets, furnishings, ceilings, floorings, carpeting, electrical, heating or plumbing
  3. Drilling holes or use of screws and hooks
  4. Painting areas other than walls
  5. Applying stickers to doors, windows, appliances, etc.
  6. Hanging banners/posters on the outside of windows. Exceptions will be made by the Coordinators for special events (e.g. Homecoming)

Students who wish to paint or stencil their rooms, suites or hallways must first obtain written permission from their coordinator or assistant director. The Office of Housing, Residence Life & Greek Life does not provide the paint and materials for room modifications. Any leftover paint may not be placed in residence hall waste containers and is the student’s responsibility to discard properly. A fee will be charged to the student’s account upon receiving written approval from the Coordinator.

Residents must use removable magic mount adhesive or 3M quick release mounts, rather than masking tape, scotch tape, duct tape, glued picture hooks, or nails to fasten pictures and posters to the wall.
