USCIS Filing Fees Will Increase 4/20/2004

USCIS has raised the filing fees for most immigration benefit applications and petitions, effective April 30, 2004. (The new filing fee for Optional Practical Training will be $175.) All applications and petitions mailed or filed on or after that date must contain the new fee. The fee rule specifies that the fees are payable to the "Department of Homeland Security," so checks or money orders accompanying applications should now be made out to that payee name.

A USCIS fee chart and the text of the final fee rule are available at the following section of the NAFSA website: http://www.nafsa.org/practice
