Undergraduate Student Positions
FALL/SPRING
Resident Assistants (RAs) live in the residential communities and work in teams to provide support to first- and second-year students. The primary focus of the RA is to promote a community that feels safe, is focused on learning, and is inclusive and respectful of all members. Applications are due January 13, 2010.
Area Office Assistants (AOAs) provide our residential community with high-quality front-desk customer service. AOAs handle postal mail, packages, and postings, and they help manage our key and access card procedures. AOAs work with their supervisors to find regular, weekly work shifts that match up well with their academic obligations. Some AOAs work three to four hours per week, while others may work 12-15 hours depending on their preferences and needs of the office.
SUMMER
Customer Service Assistants (CSAs) work together to provide a positive experience for our summer residential guests. The CSAs have two primary roles. They prepare the residence hall rooms for guests and provide a front desk operation similar to what you might find in a hotel. Each spring semester, we hire a staff of 12 CSAs for the customer service team.
Student Custodial Assistants (SCAs) partner with the CSAs and SFAs to provide clean and attractive facilities for our summer guests and summer students. SCAs receive specialized training on both the customer service and cleaning aspects of their jobs. Each spring, we hire 10 SCAs.
Student Facility Assistants (SFAs) gain excellent experience in the management and upkeep of our residential facilities. Hands-on training and a wide variety of tasks make for a great experience for the SFAs. Along with the CSAs and SCAs, we hire approximately 10 SFAs during the course of the spring semester. Work begins in mid-May.
Resident Summer Assistants (RSAs) live in the residential communities and work in teams to provide support to first-year, second-year, and upperclass students that are transitioning into their new residential experiences. The primary focus of the RSA is to promote a community that feels safe, is focused on learning, and is inclusive and respectful of all members.
