Recovery House
Recovery House is an alternative housing option that is
available for Case students who want to maintain a clean and sober lifestyle. The program is open to eligible undergraduate, graduate, and professional students from Case, Cleveland Institute of Music, Cleveland Institute of
Art, and the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine.
Recovery House assists resident students in developing healthy life skills while remaining free of alcohol and
other drugs. It is a two-unit apartment house for six residents and a graduate resident director located in south village. Resident
students develop an individualized plan for continued sobriety along with
personal health objectives. Participants are encouraged to assist each other in creating
a safe and supportive place to live.
The mission is both simple and challenging: to help students at
risk regain their ability to remain actively enrolled at Case, make healthy choices, and
contribute to Case's powerful learning environment. Recent studies suggest
that a live-in, recovery-focused facility may improve the chances of a student
continuing his/her studies while developing healthy life practices for the future.
The Recovery House Advisory Board assists residents with their personal
recovery plans. Members of the Board include faculty, staff, and students from Case
and health professionals from the Cleveland community.
Recovery House is a cooperative effort of the Office of Housing and Residence
Life, The Collegiate Behavioral Health Advisory Council, University Counseling
Services, Francis Payne Bolton School of Nursing, Mandel School of Applied
Social Sciences, and the Cleveland Psychoanalytic Center.
