Living on Campus - Specific Session

Occupancy is available for one of the summer academic sessions:

• May Term: May 8 - May 31
• 5-week session: May 30 - July 5
• 8-week session: May 30 - July 29
• 5-week + 4 week session: May 30 - August 2
• 6-week session: June 13 - July 29
• 4-week session: July 4 - August 2

May Term Residents

May Term is only available to students with an existing spring 2009 assignment in a Case residence hall or university-operated Greek House. Students who sign up for May Term would remain in their current spring assignment until they are able to move into their summer housing assignment. Students can only move into their summer room assignment between Thursday, May 21 and Sunday, May 24. If you are participating in a May Term course which requires traveling, you must be in town between May 21 and May 24 to move into your summer housing assignment.

Special Note for Current Clarke Tower and Howe Residents:

Due to Clarke Tower and Howe House undergoing renovations this summer, students who have spring transition/may term housing will need to move commencement weekend (May 16-17). Our goal is to allow students to move directly into their summer assignment.  However, this may not necessarily be possible (primarily for the summer Village residents) as we have numerous graduating seniors who will be here until May 18.  More information will be sent out after May 8.

Spring Transitional Housing

Students with an existing spring 2009 assignment in a Case residence hall or university-operated Greek house, who will live on campus for the 5-week or 8-week session, may also choose spring transitional housing. This allows you to stay on campus from May 8 when the residence halls or Greek houses close for the spring semester, through the start of the first academic session on May 30.

Students in spring transition would remain in their current spring 2009 assignment until they are able to move into their summer housing assignment. Students can only move into their summer room assignment between Thursday, May 21 and Sunday, May 24, 2009.

Fall Transitional Housing

Summer housing students with a fall 2009 assignment in a Case residence hall or university-operated Greek House, who have lived on campus for the 8-week, 6-week or 4-week summer session, may also choose fall transitional housing. This allows you to stay on campus from July 29 or August 2 when the summer academic session ends, through August 16 when the residence halls and Greek houses open for the fall semester.

Students in fall transition housing would remain in their summer housing assignment until they are able to move into their fall housing assignment. Students can only move into their fall housing assignment starting on Saturday, August 8 through 12 noon on Monday, August 10, 2009.

Room Rates

All summer charges will be billed via student accounts through the Bursar's Office. Charges for spring transition dates before May 25 will appear on spring bills as an extension charge. Charges for fall transition dates after August 2 will appear on fall bills as an early arrival.

* Spring transition is only available for spring residents with a summer contract. Students stay in their spring assignment until they move into their summer assignments between May 21-24, 2009.

** Students who sign up for May Term would remain in their current spring assignment until they are able to move into their summer housing assignment. Students can only move into their summer room assignment between Thursday, May 21 and Sunday, May 24. If you are participating in a May Term course which requires traveling, you must be in town between May 21 and May 24 to move into your summer housing assignment.

*** Fall transition is only available for summer residents with a fall contract. Students stay in their summer assignment until they move into their fall assignment between August 8 - 10, 2009.

Application and Assignment Process

Applications will be available on the MyHousing site starting in mid-April. Applicants must select the period of occupancy, including any transition periods, and accept the summer residence hall agreement when the application is completed. Building and roommate preferences also can be submitted, though Housing cannot guarantee that all requests will be fulfilled.

Roommate Requests

Students will be able to submit summer housing roommate requests online.  Guidelines for roommate requests are as follows:

• Your roommate request can contain two to seven individuals
• You are not guaranteed to be the only individuals living in your suite/apartment
• Housing reserves the right to fill the open spaces in your suite/apartment
• Coeducational groups must completely fill the suite/apartment

Summer housing assignments will be made based upon lifestyle characteristics and building preferences listed on the housing application, and roommate requests submitted online. Students will be notified of their summer housing assignment after the week of April 27, 2009.
