Cedar Residential College
Growth Through the Arts
- Smith House
- Taft House
- Tyler House
Cedar Residential College is comprised of three houses: Smith, Taft, and Tyler. The crest features a tree that signifies the growth a student experiences during his or her time at Case Western Reserve University.
Cedar Residential College focuses on building community and encourages students to explore theater, visual arts, and music, through experience or appreciation. Students participate in the Residential Arts Community (RAC) by performing and producing a series of full-length plays, one-act performances, and 24-hour plays throughout the semester with the Cedar Players Theatrical Company.
Events in previous years have included theatrical productions, a 24-hour play (written, produced, and performed in 24 hours), a First-Year Art Gala, cabaret, and trips to view other forms of artistic expression. No previous arts experience (nor any particular talent!) is required of residents. Through focusing on the arts, Cedar strives to build an inclusive community where students are challenged to think about their world from new perspectives while developing strong relationships with each other.
