Juniper Residential College
Knowledge Through Multiculturalism
- Norton House
- Raymond House
- Sherman House
Juniper Residential College is comprised of three houses: Norton, Raymond, and Sherman. The Juniper crest features an inkwell and pen to signify the education and emerging knowledge base central to a student's experience at Case Western Reserve University. The mission of Juniper Residential College is to give students an opportunity to learn about themselves and each other through activities surrounding multiculturalism.
One of the key components to this mission is challenging students to explore their own and others' identities to make meaningful connections with the students in multiple, concentric circles of community —along with offices of the university and the greater Cleveland community.
Traditions of the Juniper Residential College include an opening ceremony that involves signing the scroll, the Diversity Squad, and supporting programs from the Office of Multicultural Affairs, International Student Services and the Flora Stone Mather Center for Women. Programs such as "Walk in My Shoes" and "Writings on the Wall" are also part of the traditions of Juniper Residential College.
Programming around multicultural issues is capped off in the spring semester during Unity Week, a collaboration with the Office of Multicultural Affairs. . By examining multicultural issues, Juniper residents are encouraged to learn more about themselves, others, and the impact of diversity in the world.
