Voicemail
To begin receiving voice mail, you must first visit the
voice mail setup
web page. Without first visiting the setup page, callers will be informed that you have not enabled
voice mail, and will not be able to leave you messages. The setup page will ask for your Case
network ID and
password, and then will lead you through the process of setting up voice mail.
Listening to messages
The new voice mail system is a unified messaging system. This means that your
voice messages are stored along with your email. You can listen to your
messages either through your telephone or on your computer.
A complete list of all of the features of unified messaging can be found on the
ITS website.
To listen to messages from your telephone:
- Dial 754-3800 or star zero (* + 0) from your residence hall phone
- Select name if shared mailbox or press star (*) to enter your mailbox number. (For those who don't share a mailbox, skip this step).
- Enter your passcode followed by the pound (#) key
- Press 1 + 1 to listen to new messages or 1 + 2 to listen to saved messages
- The star (*) key takes you back one menu
After listening to a message:
- Press 1 to save the message
- Press 3 to skip to the next message
- Press 4 to replay the message
- Press 7 to delete
- The star (*) key takes you back one menu
To listen to messages from your computer:
- Access Case email through your email client or
Case WebMail. (Note: users on the old iPlanet server should continue to use mail.case.edu.)
- Messages are stored in both inbox and in IMAP UM-Messages folder
- Open .wav file attachment
All voice mail messages are sent to the IMAP "UM-Messages" folder. This
folder is tied to your telephone interface. If you delete a message on your
phone, it will be deleted in the "UM-Messages" folder. For your convenience, a
copy is also sent to your inbox, which is not deleted if you erase the message
from either your phone or in the UM-Messages folder. When you delete a
message from the inbox, you will still be able to retrieve the message from your
telephone.
