Case Spelunks!
Do you enjoy spelunking or exploring natural caves and caverns? Sign up for Case Spelunks and enjoy a caving and rappelling adventure.
Students will travel with the Case Treks group to Pennsylvania, where both
ventures take place in close proximity to one another. Students who participate in Case Spelunks will be staying in cabins at Benner's Meadow Run, located in Laurel Highlands of Southwestern Pennsylvania.
Most of the Case Spelunks excursions will take place at Laurel Caverns Geological Park. This 435-acre park features Pennsylvania's largest developed limestone cavern. Make your way through underground passages and catacomb-like rooms, and enjoy the natural stone sculptures and formations.
You'll also participate in:
- Group Caving. Here, you'll view over two miles of undeveloped and lighted caves. Most of the passages are between 10 and 40 feet high. You'll spend a lot of time climbing up and over rocks, so be sure to have a pair of good boots on hand.
- Rappelling. Enjoy high adventure rappelling in a cave!
- Camping
- Biking/hiking
In 2009, the fee for Case Spelunks was $205, which included meals, lodging, transportation, and activities. Registration begins in April. Space is limited, so be sure to register on your Summer Checklist early!
