Advising

When students need help clarifying academic goals, the Academic Advising department at Case is here to guide them. Academic advisors work with Case students so they can better understand the curriculum, review the available course selection, and determine their future career goals.
One of the biggest challenges new students encounter is adapting to the rigorous academic demands of college life. Although the majority of students are in the top ten percent of their graduating class, many may not have learned the study habits necessary to perform successfully at the university level. International students may face additional challenges trying to adapt to American cultural norms and social practices. Academic advising can help prepare students during this time and point them in the right direction.
All first-year students are assigned a faculty advisor who can assist them with course selection and oversee their academic progress, so they can learn what to expect on their journey toward graduation. After students declare a major, a departmental advisor can help them learn more about their selected course of study. Additional faculty provide counseling to students who pursue admission to professional studies in dentistry, law, medicine, or nursing, or who plan to participate in the Junior Year Abroad program. In recent years, Case undergraduates have studied in Australia, Israel, Japan, Kenya, and other countries.
