Educational Background: B.B.A., University of Michigan-Dearborn; M.A., Higher Education, University of Michigan

What You Do Now, and Why You Chose That Path: I work in Student Affairs because this is one of the few things that I am incredibly passionate about. I discovered the field by accident. Trying to figure out what I wanted to do after college, I realized that I didn't like all of my classes that much and I had no desire to wear a suit and work a 9-5 job. What I liked about my undergraduate experience was all of the activities I was involved in (student government, program board, fraternity, student newspaper, etc.). I parlayed that experience into a really enjoyable career!

Craziest Hair Style: I wanted to try and wear my hair long when I was in high school, but instead of growing long, it would start to flip up in the back. Not a good look at all!

Greatest Lesson You Ever Learned: It's actually okay to admit you've made a mistake.

Rhonda Moore

Rhonda MooreHometown: McDonald, Ohio

Work Title and Department: Program Coordinator, Educational Services for Students

Educational Background: B.A., English; B.S. Computer Science; EMBA

A Story From College That Helped Shape Who You Are Today: During the first year of my undergraduate experience I was the typical commuter student who went to class, work, and then home. I answered an add in the student newspaper to be a summer orientation leader (like the e-board here at Case). After that I got involved in everything and anything I could, worked for the university, and got a Master's in Higher Ed. You can say it was the start of my passion.

Describe your perfect Saturday: A leisurely breakfast followed by an adventure with my kids -- say a hike through a metro park we haven't been to.

Craziest Hair Style: Completely bald. I liked the look so much I kept it.

Greatest Lesson You Ever Learned: To make time for the big (important) things first. Everything else can be sandwiched into your schedule, but you shouldn't skimp when it comes to your most important personal priorities. Of course, identifying what those are is the difficult part...

Perfect Saturday: An afternoon at the park with my husband, Craig, and pup, Oscar!

What do you do now, and why did you choose that path? I currently serve as the First-Year Coordinator for Cedar Residential College. In this role, I work with the Resident Assistants and Assistant First-Year Coordinator in creating a safe, welcoming environment for residents in Smith, Taft, and Tyler. I chose this path because as an undergraduate student I realized that I enjoyed my extracurricular activities more than my major. From there, I realized that Student Affairs was a career path and I decided to apply to graduate schools to study Higher Education and Student Affairs. Work Title and Department: Assistant Director, Undergraduate Admissions

Educational Background: B.S., Biology; M.B.A., Case Western Reserve University (in progress)

A Story From College That Helped Shape Who You Are Today: After a socially exciting, but academically disappointing first semester, I was not only presented with the possibility of losing my scholarship, but also the opportunity to really get to know the Assoc. Dean of Academic Affairs. Together we developed an action plan that helped me take ownership of my educational goals and monitor my own progress. Through the course of that second semester, I began to look forward to exceeding her expectations or seeking out her advice when thinks weren’t going according to plan. She was non-judgmental with high expectations and served as my example of how an individual can balance being approachable, supportive and friendly while still being effective and holding others accountable for their own choices and actions. I try to model that same balance.

Craziest Hair Style: a mushroom (think of Tootie from the "Facts of Life")

What is your favorite quote? Baggage - All of us come with it, the difference is how we choose to carry it.

A Story From College That Helped Shape Who You Are Today: I went to El Salvador and built latrines for some of the less fortunate in Central America. The people, their culture, their gratitude and their appreciation have all helped make me into a better, more understanding and grateful person. Sounds cheesy, but it really was a life altering experience.

Describe your perfect Saturday: Getting up and having breakfast, then getting ready for my day at a leisurely pace. Go to a mueseum or art gallery with a friend. Have a nice walk outside, talking and finding cute little shops to go into. Head home and get ready for a nice dinner out. Come home after dinner, around 8:30 and then watch a movie while knitting and then go to bed :) Perfect!
