ELP Mentoring Program
The ELP Mentoring Program provides participants with more opportunities to develop a foundation of leadership and allows mentors to leave their mark on the Case Western Reserve University community by developing a valuable connection with its newest members.
What is an ELP Mentor?
An ELP Mentor is:
- A Role Model that will share his or her own experiences, relationships, and knowledge. The mentor's personal leadership network will assist the participant in building the foundation of his or her own network.
- A Reference that will assist in guiding the participant through the many possibilities that the Case leadership community has to offer.
- An Advisor that will challenge his or her participant to create a personal leadership journey. As the participant embarks on this leadership journey, the mentor will be there to support and provide feedback that is both positive and productive.
- A Friend and confidant who builds a trusting relationship through mutual experiences and quality time spent together.
ELP Mentor Expectations:
To assist in laying the foundation for these new relationships, the ELP mentors will be expected to fully participate in the following aspects of the Emerging Leaders Program:
- Attend the Fall Leadership Conference on Saturday, September 29 — registration is required
- Attend mentor training. (This will be held during the Fall Leadership Conference on Saturday, September 29.)
- Attend the Opening Reception & Social on Wednesday, October 10.
- Attend social opportunities. (TBD)
- Plan one-on-one activities with your program participant.
- Meet with your program participant to discuss their Leadership Journey Plan.
- Attend the Graduation Ceremony on Wednesday, March 19, from 4:30 - 6 p.m.
- Develop and accomplish some specific goals for the mentor-mentee relationship with your program participant.
- Assist and support program participants on their final project.
All ELP mentors are also urged to continue developing these relationships with their program participants outside the structure of the ELP.
ELP Scavenger Hunt
All program participants and their ELP mentors are invited to participate in the scavenger hunt. The mentoring team that completes the most items on the scavenger hunt list will win a prize. The prize will be distributed at the ELP graduation on March 19.
How it works:
Try to complete as many of the activities on the scavenger hunt list as possible. For each activity you do take a picture together. Compile all of the digital pictures into a PowerPoint (’97-’03 version) and label each picture with the corresponding number on the list. Send your completed PowerPoint to Christina Mastrangelo at christina.mastrangelo@case.edu by Friday, March 7.
If you do not have digital camera, please hand in hard copies of your photos. Label the back of each photo with the corresponding number on the list. You may drop off your completed entry to the Student Activities & Leadership Office.
