Installing on Ubuntu Linux

These directions were developed for Ubuntu 7.10 and later. If you are using an older version, please refer to the legacy directions.

  1. From the system menu on the Gnome toolbar, select Administration, then Printing.

  2. Select New Printer.

  3. Select LPD/LPR Host or Printer under Select Connection.
  4. Enter the Hostname of the printer you would like to use:
    • print2carlton.case.edu
    • print2fribley.case.edu
    • print2sears.case.edu
    • print2thwing.case.edu
    • print2village.case.edu
    • print2wade.case.edu
  5. Enter a Printername to identify the printer, then click Forward.

  6. Download the ppd file for the printer and save it.
  7. Select Provide PPD File, pick the ppd file you just downloaded, then click Forward.

  8. Check Input Tray 3 and Input Tray 4 from the list of Installed Options, then click Forward

  9. Enter any additional information you like, then click Apply.
