Printing Tips
Avoiding Lines
Plan ahead to avoid lines. Most of the Print2Here printers are available 24/7
to undergraduate students with their Case ID card, so you should be able to
print at your convenience. You are most likely to find a short line immediately
before class sessions.
Identifying Your Job
The name of your document and your username are both located on the printer
display when you pick up your job. We recommend that you log into your computer
with a named user account (and not "administrator" or "root") to make it easier
to identify your print jobs.
For documents printed from public computers, the user name displayed will be
"AtriumGuest" (Thwing Center), "CommuterGuest" (Commuter Lounge), "PdelcGuest"
(Plain Dealer Electronic Learning Center), or "VillageGuest" (residence halls
and commons).
Under Windows, the default installation enables a banner page which is
printed at the start of each job. In order to save paper, we ask that you
disable the banner page.
Printer drivers support "n-up" printing, which allows you to print multiple
pages on a physical piece of paper.
The Print2Here printers offer a secure printing option, which allows you to
associate a 4-digit PIN number with your print job. This PIN number must be
entered into the printer before the job will be printed. (Secure printing is not
available under Linux.)
When you no longer wish to use the Print2Here system, you can delete the
printers from your computer.
